Safe Storage, Display and Transportation

Safe Storage Non-Restricted
First, ensure the firearm is UNLOADED
Non-Restricted firearms require (1) one lock at all times while being stored.
Such as in a firearm safe, a vault or a secure room that cannot be easily broken into.
Such as in a locking opaque case (non-transparent)
If none of these options are available to you, you could install a trigger lock or a cable lock to disable the firearm action from being fired.

Safe Display Non-Restricted
There are (3) three rules for displaying a firearm.
1) The fiream must be unloaded
2) A secure locking device must be installed (trigger lock or a cable lock)
3) All compatible ammunition must be stored away from the firearm.

Safe Transportation Non-Restricted
If you are in the vehicle, there is only (1) legal requirement for the firarm. It must be UNLOADED.

If you are leaving the vehicle unattended, there are (3) legal requiremnts.

1) The firearm must be unloaded
2) The firearm must be hidden from sight such as in the trunk.
3) The vehicle doors must be locked.

 



Safe Storage Restricted
First, ensure the firearm is UNLOADED

Non-Restricted firearms require (2) two locks at all times while being stored unless it's in a safe, vault or secure room.
Such as stored in a firearm safe, a vault or a secure room that cannot be easily broken into.
Such as be being stored in a locking opaque case (non-transparent) AND a trigger lock or cable lock applied.


Safe Display Restricted
There are (3) three rules for displaying a firearm.
1) The fiream must be unloaded
2) A secure locking device must be installed (trigger lock or a cable lock) and securely attached to a structure on which it is displayed by a chain, metal cable or similar device in such a manner that the restricted firearm cannot readily be removed.
3) All compatible ammunition must be stored away from the firearm.


Safe Transportation Restricted
If you are in the vehicle, there are (2) legal requirementsfor the firarm. It must be UNLOADED and stored in a locking opaque case (non-transparent) WITH a trigger lock or cable lock applied.

If you are leaving the vehicle unattended, there are (4) legal requiremnts.
1) The firearm must be UNLOADED and stored in a locking opaque case (non-transparent) WITH a trigger lock or cable lock applied.
2) The firearm must be hidden from sight such as in the trunk.
3) The vehicle doors must be locked.



Documentation Reqirements
Each time you are transporting a firearm, you must ensure you have the proper documentation for the classes of firearms you are moving.

For Non-Restricted firearms you will need to have a non-restricted firearms license.
For Restricted firearms you will need to have a restricted firearms license, the firearm registration certificate for all restricted firearms with you, and an Authorization to Transport.
